In 5th grade we expect all students to come to school prepared to learn. We also expect every student to have all necessary materials, homework, and to always come to class with a good attitude.
Every homeroom will carry a clipboard to all classes they visit throughout the day. The clipboard will carry a behavior chart with each student's name. In my homeroom, everyone starts off with "$100" at the beginning of each week. Students will lose "money" for not being prepared, not having homework, not having their agenda signed, or any behavior issues. Most first offenses will result in a loss of $5, but sometimes more depending on the severity of the offense.
Student's will also be rewarded for GOOD behavior. Every Friday, I tally up the remaining money and include the total in the student's agenda. If the student has $70 or more they will receive an award.
Awards:
$100- Lunch with a friend(very popular), read to a younger class, Homework Pass, Move your desk for the day, or Extra Computer Time.
$95-$80- Line Leader, Write with a Pen, or Treat Box.
$80-$70- Pencil, Eraser, or Candy
*Points do not carry over to the next week. Everyone receives a blank slate and will start over with $100 every Monday.
